A highly enthusiastic researcher is required to work at the thermoelectric laboratory at Universitat Jaume I (Castellón, Spain) for the implementation of the European FET Open project "Solid-liquid thermoelectric systems with uncorrelated properties (UncorrelaTEd)”. It aims at achieving unprecedented thermoelectric performance by the combination of nanostructured thermoelectric materials with liquid electrolytes.
Full time (37.5 h/week) fixed term contract of 9 months that could be extended up to the whole duration of the project (3 more years) with a gross salary of 30,500 €/year approximately. Starting date of the contract will be April 2020 (a later starting date will be highly unlikely).
Main research tasks for the researcher involve:
-the fabrication of devices combining nanostructured and porous thermoelectric films with liquid electrolytes.
-the determination of the thermoelectric properties and the heat-to-electricity energy conversion efficiency of these devices.
-the electrochemical characterisation of the devices by means of electrochemical methods (impedance spectroscopy, voltammetry).
The researcher will also undertake other common research tasks such as:
-engage in collaborative activities with the other partner organisations of the project.
-be involved in dissemination and outreach activities and the supervision of students.
-drafting of scientific articles and/or research grant proposals under guidance.
-prepare results/reports for external funding bodies and research meetings.
To have a degree in Chemistry, Physics, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science or equivalent.
-To have a PhD (or being close to complete it) or at least 3 years of full-time research experience.
-Knowledge and experience on the preparation of devices involving films and electrolytes (e.g. solar cells, batteries, supercapacitors, water splitting devices, electrochromics, etc.).
-Experience on the preparation of nanostructured porous materials.
-Knowledge and experience on the measurement of thermoelectric properties and measurement setups.
-Knowledge and experience on electrochemistry, especially on the use of electrochemical techniques (impedance spectroscopy, voltammetry, etc.).
-Good track record of publications related to the experience required.
-Right work attitude, following good practices and the established health and safety regulations.
-Work independently and as part of a team, maintain the working areas clean and tidy, take care of tools and instrumentation, etc.
-Good English level and experience on the use of scientific software (e.g. Labview, Zview, Matlab).
